IN-HOUSE TRAINING ORGANISED BY THE FACULTY REGISTRAR FOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS IN THE FACULTY OF MECHANICAL AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The Faculty Registrar, Mrs. Elizabeth Maame Esi Amissah, organised a one-day training session for the administrative assistants in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering on May 26, 2023, in the Antarctic Conference Room of the Petroleum Building, College of Engineering. She served as the resource person and facilitated the training. The Vice-Dean, Professor Francis Kemausuor of the Faculty, delivered the welcome address on behalf of the Dean, Professor George Yaw Obeng. He commended the Faculty Registrar for organising such in-house training for the staff and anticipated that the acquired expertise would enhance their performance in discharging their duties. He added that the training would improve the competencies and skills of the faculty administrators.
The Faculty Registrar took the Administrative Assistants through topics including the importance of effective record-keeping, communication strategies, customer care techniques, problem-solving approaches, and maintaining confidentiality. Administrative assistants had a great chance to learn new things, share their experiences, and obtain new perspectives throughout the training. The Faculty's dedication to professional development was apparent, and the workshop's success emphasised the significance of the administrative staff's continuous improvement and learning. The Administrative Assistants appreciated the in-house training organised for them and suggested that such training should be organised periodically for staff in the Faculty.
